It is only as we develop others that we permanently succeed.
- Harvey S. Firestone
None of us is as smart as all of us.
- Japanese proverb
The success of every organization depends on people working together, communicating clearly, and looking out for each other. These skills are even more critical in a world where being flexible as an organization is an essential means of responding to situations like downsizing, mergers, acquisitions and other sudden changes.
Using exercises that focus on collaboration and co-operation, VTS Team Building Training sessions develop trust between team members. Working in an environment that uses humour to inspire, participants learn to "be in the moment", to be open to the ideas of others and to take risks. People discover themselves, their colleagues and their jobs in entirely new ways.
From downsized or merged "survivor" teams to entirely new teams, from cross-functional to multi-site or multi-level management groups, VTS Training uniquely deals with the challenges of developing interconnectivity in all team situations. Managers or supervisors of a group or department are encouraged to participate with their team members.
Sample Activity
A group of four people tell a story that has never been written by each adding one word at a time to the story. No more, no less! This is an exercise that requires openness, trust, and teamwork. In order to tell a successful story, the individuals must think as one, be open to change, and contribute in the most effective way that enhances the team's story, performance and experience.
Participant Response
"It was so much fun to build on the ideas of others and see where it takes you"
"I had to listen as I have never had to before to make the game work."
"It's about letting go of control and listening to what's going around me."
"I learned how easy it was to make someone else look good."
"Great to learn how much fun some of my colleagues are and how I'll see them differently in the future."
