June 2016 - Charting Early beginnings

Once again this year, one of our team visited a local primary school as part of their 'Industry Day' presentations. This was the fourth consecutive year that we have been invited and we were please to get involved and introduce the pupils to various aspects of the merchant navy and life at sea.

Throughout the day classes of up to 16 children were introduced to charts “the maps of the sea”, and took part in exercises involving using latitude and longitude coordinates and chart abbreviations (de-coding as they liked to call it).
