Both of these courses have run smoothly and students and lecturer had a great rapport and in addition to sucessful learning had some laughs too
14 VTSOs were welcomed at the inaurgral V103/1 course delivered near Jakarta in Indonesia. The attendees from many ports around Indonesia particularly enjoyed the simulation element of the course at great facilities
The first six VTS Operators from Saudi Aramco attended VTS V103/5 training at the Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy. All enjoyed the facilities and course content.
AFS Consultants were pleased to deliver a V103/1 course in Abu Dhabi at the new Maritime Academy. The building has fantastic facilities and we look forward to many more courses taking place there
Further to our succesful training missions in country, Nigeria LNG have recently completed the signing of an agreement with AFS Consultants that will utilise our Marine and VTS training courses at their Bonny Island Maritime Centre of Excellence.
Under the deal, AFS Consultants will provide trainers for the intitial traning courses to then be then furthered by a licencing deal - similar to those AFS have already in place in other countries, such as Brazil and Indonesia.

Wow what a month June 2017 has been for AFS Consultants with an agreement to provide training services now signed with Pt. Visi Teknologi Samudra of Jakarta.
Shelter (Marine Consultants and Marine Training) of Rio De Janeiro have again selected AFS Consultants to provide VTS Training in Brazil for a further contract period.
Nigeria LNG (NLNG) have signed contracts with AFS Consultants for the provision of VTS Operator training to be delivered at their Headquarters in Bonny Island. In addition, NLNG have commissioned a three-day On the Job Training Instructor course, to follow directly from the Operator course.
Port of London reaches Memorandum of Understanding with AFS Consultants to deliver IALA V103 VTS Training Courses at the PLA's Training Centre at Gravesend, London.
The new IALA Model Course V103/5 for VTS Refresher training which was issued in June 2016 was published earlier this this month.
As an STCW qualification VTS Operator and Supervisor qualifications should be revalidated every five years in keeping with other Certificates of Competency. Competent Authorities (Flag State Administrations) are expected to adopt the new Model Course.
Following the success in previous years, we have been asked to provide the initial marine training to Associated British Ports’ Marine Apprentices. The training will take place at the dock offices in Immingham, UK and culminate with the presentation of a Local Port Services (LPS) course.
AFS Consultants are proud to announce the signing of a contract with Abu Dhabi Ports, to deliver Human Elements in Leadership and Management (HELM) courses at both Management (M) and Operational (O) levels, at their training facility in Abu Dhabi.
Once again this year, one of our team visited a local primary school as part of their 'Industry Day' presentations. This was the fourth consecutive year that we have been invited and we were please to get involved and introduce the pupils to various aspects of the merchant navy and life at sea.
AFS Consultants are delighted to have be chosen by Peel Ports Group to deliver training to five newly recruited Group Port Control Shift Managers. The comprehensive training package involved local knowledge training for the ports of Liverpool, Medway, Clydeport and Heysham and the development of a "local knowledge handbook" for each port. AFS Consultants also developed a Training Record Book and Workbook to compliment the training and assist in information gathering during port visits.
John Hewett joins the AFS team as a consultant. Following his retirement from South Tyneside College, Marine School Curriculum Leader John Hewett joins AFS Consultants.

Baku, Azerbaijan - In January 2016, following a successful number of years delivering LPS training in the U.K., AFS were delighted when they were commissioned to deliver their 3-day Local Port Services (LPS) course on-site, in Baku, Azerbaijan.
After a formal course observation, during the delivery of a Human Element Leadership and Management (HELM) at the Operational (O) Level, the United Kingdom's Maritime and Coastguard Agency have subsequently awarded a certificate of course approval to AFS Consultants.
Following the successful 'pilot' course at Immingham, the MCA have awarded AFS Consultants approval to run 5-day HELM(M) courses.
Following the award of a contract to supply VTS Training in the United Arab Emirates to Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC), two of our consultants recently completed the inaugural training mission. Candidates received IALA module 4 Nautical Knowledge training and went onto experience the IALA V103/1 Underpinning Knowledge and VTS simulator training in a new Kongsberg VTS simulation suite...
AFS recently completed the first of 2 presentations to senior fire officers from the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service at their Killingholme fire station. The topics covered were ship’s stability and in particular the impact on a ship’s stability when fighting a ship fire. In addition to the presentation, there was a practical exercise and case studies.
AFS Consultants' robust TMS allows us to keep pace with the rapid changes in documentation. The recent publication in December 2012 of IALA Guideline 1089 On provision of VTS types of service and the triennial updating of the UK Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) also in December 2012, were both captured by our TMS. Our teaching material was revised and updated to reflect the relevant changes. Our Clients can be confident that courses delivered by AFS Consultants contain the most up to date information and documentation available.
Associated British Ports (ABP), a major UK port operator recently engaged AFS Consultants to provide a bespoke 10-day Basic Induction Course for their apprentice training scheme.The course was delivered at the ABP Port of Immingham in five sessions of 2-days each and featured all aspects of Port Operations including Ship construction, Bridge procedures, Bridge equipment, Port operations, Ship handling, Buoyage, Colregs, Compass work, Mooring, Anchoring, Passage planning, Time zones, Load lines, Towage, Conservancy, SOLAS, Nautical publications, Legislation, Risk assessments, Contingency planning, Meteorology, Chart work, Tide theory, Waterways, Personal attributes Accident investigation, PMSC, Stability, ISPS, IMDG & Basic communications.
Staff from AFS Consultants were again selected to provide training on behalf IMO, on this occasion a mission to India. The training package featured training to IALA V103 standard for both VTS Operators and Supervisors in Mumbai. The simulation training was delivered using Ledwood Technology's IRIS radar system.
The training undertaken for Mumbai Port Trust and JNPT was completed on time and on budget. A total of 11 Operators and 10 Supervisors received training following the IALA model courses for both V103/1 & V103/2 respectively.
